There are many other ways the brain can strengthen itself, but first let\u2019s dive a little bit into what this \u201chabit\u201d is exactly.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"blogsubtitles\">Strength In Awareness<\/h2>\n<p>Mindfulness, or the art of unplugging from past or future thoughts, has made its way to modern society over the decades.<\/p>\n<p>In a nutshell, this is simply observing the things unfolding at the present moment \u2013 or being \u201cmindful\u201d of them \u2013 without making any judgments.<\/p>\n<p>The sensation in your breath, the tightness in your chest from stress, the weight of your legs against the floor \u2013 all of these are neither right nor wrong.\u00a0It is what is, and nothing more.<\/p>\n<p>Julie, a 42-year-old sales manager for large multinational corporation felt the stress of her job wearing her down. <em>\u201cI couldn\u2019t see the light at the end of the tunnel anymore,\u201d<\/em> she complained.<\/p>\n<p>Julie says negative thoughts constantly invaded her mind and she started getting sick every one to two weeks.\u00a0Thanks to practicing mindfulness however, she managed to take control of her happiness and turned the tide against chronic stress.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI had a better grip on my feelings, ate better, slept more peacefully and had a better perspective on life in general. It\u2019s the best thing that\u2019s ever happened to me\u201d<\/em>, Julie shared.<\/p>\n<p>Her case is one of thousands who\u2019ve massively benefitted from this habit. Your brain will be better wired to not treat the experience as worse than it actually is.<\/p>\n<p>Do you want to stress less, sleep better, and feel abundantly happier?&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/rd\/2\/?src=bloghowmindfulnessmiddle\">Click HERE<\/a> to learn how to quickly <a href=\"\/rd\/2\/?src=bloghowmindfulnessmiddle\">activate your body&#8217;s natural relaxation response!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"blogsubtitles\">#2: Mindfulness makes you grittier<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Ever notice how some people can\u2019t keep it together when life gets hard?\u00a0You might notice how dramatic they get, or how they lash out at people around them when the world isn\u2019t treating them fairly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It turns out that there\u2019s a good reason why people act like that.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Another region in the brain called the anterior cingulate cortex is in charge of helping you get your act together when crisis hits.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This area has a great deal of control over your behavior, specifically how you react to difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Those with a better developed ACC is more likely to respond in a calm, calculated manner rather than impulsively reacting &#8211; like having an adult-sized tantrum, for instance.\u00a0And people that use mindfulness as a way to deal with life\u2019s up and downs have a better developed ACC than others.<\/p>\n<p>Also, it\u2019s important to note that mindfulness is linked to a more robust hippocampus, which is the region responsible for regulating your emotions.\u00a0It\u2019s safe to say that if you want to make it through life with less drama, you\u2019ll want to work on this area, too.<\/p>\n<p>Practicing mindfulness trains your brain to make better decisions when you\u2019re between a rock and a hard place, so to speak.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s certainly challenging to muster the clarity to make the right choices in tough situations \u2013 and it seems that improving your brain can even your odds in a big way.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"blogsubtitles\">#3: Mindfulness fights destructive behaviors<\/h5>\n<p><strong>The problem with stress is that it drives people to cope in unhealthy ways. This often includes addictive behaviors, which includes gambling, drug abuse or self-harm. These are some of the ways the mind tries to find relief from a difficult life.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>With mindfulness however, people can more easily avoid getting caught in a downward spiral of addiction and self-destruction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The University of Texas has a center dedicated to the study of addictive behavior (substance abuse in particular), and they\u2019ve found that mindfulness is a powerful tool in fighting it.<\/p>\n<p>People who practice this habit can better help themselves get out of their state of denial (causing them to indulge in bad behaviors) and peacefully accept their situation instead.<\/p>\n<p>The act of being in the present moment is an effective way to develop awareness and helps people make better choices as opposed to reckless (or even life-threatening) ones.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"blogsubtitles\">#4 Mindfulness and the Law Of Attraction<\/h6>\n<p><strong>The mind is one of the most powerful tools you could ever have in your life. That\u2019s why it makes sense to keep it running in excellent condition as best you can.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But did you know that mindfulness &#8211; and by extension, your mind \u2013 also has the power to manifest the reality you want?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>John Kehoe, author of \u201cMind Power\u201d once said, \u201c<em>Thoughts are REAL forces<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He believes that the mind and quality of your thoughts can shape your life to the point where you can either live a happy, successful and prosperous life\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026or suffer a mediocre existence filled with failure.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t believe it was possible not too long ago \u2013 until I made a small change in my life just recently.<\/p>\n<p>Brain training such as affirmations and visualisation train your brain to think a certain way, and thus adjust your life circumstances to suit.<\/p>\n<p>Just like a tennis player trains his arms to \u201cnaturally\u201d swing his arm in perfect line, you can train your thought processes to think in a way that moves you towards your goals and desires.<\/p>\n<p>When you start thinking of the brain as a muscle that is trainable, remarkable things can happen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"blogsubtitles\">#5: Mindfulness Keeps Your Brain From Getting Older<\/h6>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-120\" src=\"https:\/\/sevenminutemindfulness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/keeping-your-brain-young.jpg\" alt=\"Mindfulness Prevents Brain Aging\" width=\"748\" height=\"244\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sevenminutemindfulness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/keeping-your-brain-young.jpg 748w, https:\/\/sevenminutemindfulness.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/keeping-your-brain-young-300x98.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>As people age, it\u2019s not just their bodies that get old.
